Gurjit, as Senior Director at Alvarez & Marsal, led their India healthcare practice advising large Private Equity companies on their investment thesis, post-merger integration and value creation. Gurjit advised senior management teams of large hospital groups, diagnostic chains, medical device companies on their growth strategy, organization restructuring, performance improvement, post-merger integration assignments, and created value across enterprises. Gurjit’s unique experience include the merger & integration of two large hospital chains in India with a combined scale of 22 hospitals; the digital transformation for a leading Pan India Oncology chain resulting in multi fold revenue growth; due diligence and value-creation plan for one of South-East Asia’s largest integrated healthcare chains focusing on primary & secondary care and Imaging business; advised a leading global medical device company on their growth strategy and organization restructuring program; and growth strategy and digitization for South Africa’s largest Onco-radiation chain, ICON consisting of 28 centres with 32 LINAC’s. Gurjit has also stepped in and performed the role of an interim CEO & CRO of a large hospital organization of ~1800 beds under the insolvency bankruptcy process.
As COO, Gurjit helped turn around the 350 bed Sakra World Hospital, Bengaluru, from a negative 18% to a positive 12% EBITDA profile. Gurjit transformed various processes including clinician engagement & recruitment, revenue enhancement through improving clinical and non-clinical services, launching new medical programs and cost optimization initiatives. Earlier as Facility Director and Strategy at Fortis Healthcare, Gurjit was responsible for Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh, each with 150+ bedded hospitals; and Gurjit also helped operationalize the flagship facility for Fortis Healthcare in NCR, FMRI. Gurjit also established the central buying unit in Fortis, and facilitated the roll out of the program across the Fortis network.
In his earlier stint as Regional Director, Nova Specialty Hospitals (now Apollo Spectra), Gurjit managed the NCR and Middle East (Oman, Muscat) operations of a short stay surgery model focused on secondary care. Gurjit managed the region with three multispecialty facilities, and launched & operationalized a specialized Orthopaedics center in NCR and a day care & diagnostics centre in Oman, Muscat.
In his last role prior to WHA Partners, Gurjit was the COO & Founding Member of Red.Health (formerly StanPlus Technologies), the largest Emergency Response platform in India where he led the P&L and growth for the company with all business functions of including business development, sales, HR, Marketing and Operations including Clinical operations reporting into him. Gurjit and team delivered a 2.5x growth in revenues in just eleven months.
